How Much Does a Website Cost in Mumbai? A 2026 Pricing Guide

What actually drives the price of a business website in Mumbai, the typical market ranges you'll be quoted, and the questions to ask before you sign anything.

"How much for a website?" is the first question almost every business owner asks, and it's the hardest one to answer honestly in a single number. A five-page brochure site and a booking platform with payments and a customer dashboard are both "a website", but they're months apart in work.

This guide breaks down what actually moves the price, so you can read a quote and understand what you're paying for.

What actually drives the cost

Four things account for most of the difference between a quote of fifty thousand rupees and one of five lakh.

  • Number of unique page templates. Twenty pages that share one layout cost far less than five pages that each need their own design.
  • Custom design versus a template. A designed-from-scratch interface takes longer than adapting a proven layout, and looks like your business rather than everyone else's.
  • Functionality beyond content. Payments, logins, dashboards, bookings, inventory, role-based access — each of these is a system, not a page.
  • Content readiness. If copy, photos and product data are ready, the build moves. If the agency is writing your content and sourcing images, that's real work being added.

Typical market ranges in India

These are broad ranges commonly seen across the Indian market in 2026, not a specific quote. Treat them as orientation, not a price list.

Basic business website

A small brochure site — home, about, services, contact — on a template, with a contact form and basic SEO setup. Usually a few weeks of work. This is the right choice when your goal is simply to look credible and be findable.

Custom-designed business website

Original design, eight to fifteen pages, proper content structure, SEO groundwork, analytics, and a way for you to edit content yourself. This is where most established small and mid-sized businesses land.

E-commerce store

Product catalogue, cart, payment gateway, order management, shipping integration. Cost scales sharply with catalogue size and how much of your fulfilment process needs to be reflected in software.

Custom web application

Dashboards, user roles, workflow automation, internal management systems. Priced by scope rather than page count, because the work is logic rather than layout.

The costs people forget

The build is not the only line item. Budget for these too, or they'll surprise you three months in.

  • Domain registration, renewed annually.
  • Hosting, which can be nearly free for a static site and meaningful for an application with a database.
  • SSL certificate, usually included by modern hosts.
  • Payment gateway fees, charged per transaction, typically around 2 to 3 percent.
  • Maintenance and updates, whether a retainer or ad-hoc.
  • Content and photography, if you don't have it.

Why the cheapest quote often costs more

A very low quote usually means one of a few things: a template filled in with minimal changes, no SEO structure, no plan for you to update content, or no support after launch. Any of those can be fine if you know that's what you're buying.

The expensive version of cheap is rebuilding in eighteen months because the site can't do what the business now needs, or because nobody can edit it without calling the developer.

Questions to ask before you sign

Ask these of any agency, including us. The answers tell you more than the number does.

  • Who owns the code and the domain when we're done?
  • Can I edit content myself without a developer?
  • Is the site built to be found on Google, or will SEO be a separate project later?
  • What happens after launch — is support included, and for how long?
  • What is explicitly not in this quote?
  • Can I see something you built that's still running two years later?

Getting a number that means something

The most useful thing you can bring to a first conversation is not a budget — it's clarity about what the website has to achieve. Generate enquiries? Sell directly? Replace a manual process eating your team's week? A good partner will scope backwards from that outcome.

If you'd like a specific figure for your project rather than a range, tell us what you're trying to achieve and we'll come back with a scope and a price you can actually compare against other quotes.
